A Day in Our Pajaritos Classroom – Spanish Immersion for Early Preschoolers
In the Pajaritos classroom, children are ready to take big steps in independence, problem-solving, and language use. Designed for early preschoolers, this environment provides rich opportunities to explore academic concepts through play while continuing to strengthen Spanish as a second language. Here, the day is filled with hands-on experiences that weave together art, music, science, math, and movement—all within a nurturing, bilingual setting.
Music & Movement
Songs, rhythm, and dance play a central role in the Pajaritos experience. Whether singing “Sol y Luna” or “El Día y la Noche”, moving to “Lobo, ¿estás ahí?”, or keeping the beat with instruments, children connect music to learning themes while improving coordination and rhythm. Music time is also an important space for self-expression and for practicing Spanish vocabulary in an engaging way.
Language, Literacy & Communication
Through thematic stories, songs, and conversations, children expand their vocabulary and begin to use Spanish more confidently in daily interactions. Journal activities encourage early writing skills—such as tracing and forming letters—while storytelling and finger plays foster creativity and comprehension. Books like Climate Change connect language learning to real-world topics, encouraging curiosity about the environment.
Math & Science
Pajaritos children explore foundational math skills like counting classmates, matching numbers with names, and identifying shapes and sizes. Science activities connect learning to nature and the world around them, such as discovering how the sun helps plants grow or observing the effects of light and shadow. These hands-on explorations make abstract concepts meaningful and memorable.
Gross Motor Play
Active play is part of every day. From yoga and hopping on one foot, to racing, jumping rope, and dancing, children develop balance, strength, and endurance. Outdoor play is also a time to explore teamwork and practice social skills while using their growing bodies with confidence.
Fine Motor & Creative Expression
Children strengthen hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills through art and tactile experiences—crafting the Northern Lights, finger painting, lacing cards, using droppers for water activities, and creating day-and-night collages. These projects encourage creativity, persistence, and self-pride in completed work.
Cognitive Development & General Knowledge
Pajaritos learn to identify letters, colors, and sizes through engaging games and puzzles. They practice comparing objects, recognizing the first letter of their names, and connecting what they’ve learned to broader ideas during theme reviews.
Thematic Learning
Themes, such as El Cielo (The Sky), guide activities across all learning domains. Over the course of a week, children might sing songs about the sun and moon, draw or paint celestial scenes, experiment with light, and learn vocabulary related to day, night, and weather—all while strengthening their understanding of the world through Spanish immersion.
In the Pajaritos classroom, learning is a joyful mix of exploration, creativity, and skill-building. Every activity is intentionally designed to nurture social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth—while giving children the lifelong advantage of bilingualism.
