Buhos Room

Our Búhos classroom is where children take their final steps before kindergarten—confident, capable, and ready for the exciting challenges ahead. Designed for preschoolers preparing to graduate, this program combines a full Spanish immersion environment with a strong emphasis on literacy, early math, science inquiry, creative expression, and social skills that will help them thrive in school and life.

At this stage, children are building on everything they’ve learned in earlier classrooms—expanding their vocabulary, developing critical thinking skills, and practicing greater independence. Every activity is intentional, preparing them for the structure and expectations of kindergarten while keeping learning joyful and hands-on.

Music & Movement

Music is both a cultural and educational bridge in Búhos. Children sing, dance, and move to Spanish songs tied to our weekly themes—whether celebrating El Día de la Independencia, acting out cloud formations, or marching like ants. They play instruments, learn songs with new vocabulary, and use rhythm to strengthen memory, coordination, and self-expression.

Language, Literacy & Writing

Daily journals help Búhos refine pre-writing and early writing skills, from forming letters and words like nubes (clouds) or metamorphosis (metamorphosis), to drawing what they imagine or observe. Storytime in Spanish—featuring books such as La mariquita malhumorada, Pequeña nube, and La vida de la mariposa—supports comprehension, expands vocabulary, and fosters a love of reading.

Math & Science Exploration

Children explore early math through counting, graphing, comparing quantities, and recognizing patterns. Science comes alive through experiments and investigations—learning how clouds form, exploring the water cycle, studying insect life stages, or discovering why the sun is important for plants. These activities encourage observation, questioning, and problem-solving.

Gross Motor Play

Outdoor games and physical challenges help develop strength, coordination, and teamwork. From playing tag and jumping rope to yoga, basketball, and obstacle courses, Búhos children practice body control while building confidence in their abilities.

Fine Motor & Creative Arts

Art and craft projects—such as cloud collages with cotton, ladybug headbands, butterfly life cycle models, or patriotic decorations—help refine fine motor skills and creativity. Activities like cutting, painting, beading, and gluing also prepare children for the pencil and tool use they’ll encounter in kindergarten.

Cognitive Development & Thematic Learning

Each theme integrates learning across all subjects. A unit on Las Nubes (Clouds) might include cloud-themed songs, scientific videos, art projects, vocabulary writing, and outdoor sky observation. An insect theme may inspire dramatic play, classification activities, and journal entries about different species. By connecting academic concepts to real-world topics, children build both knowledge and curiosity.

Kindergarten Readiness in Spanish

Beyond academics, Búhos students practice important life skills—following multi-step directions, working independently, collaborating with peers, and expressing their needs in Spanish and English. The combination of structured learning, creative play, and cultural richness ensures that they graduate from Cultured Kids ready for kindergarten, carrying with them the gift of bilingualism.
