A Day in Our Abejitas Classroom – Spanish Immersion for Infants & Toddlers
At Cultured Kids, Spanish immersion begins from the very start of a child’s educational journey. In our Abejitas classroom, every song, story, and activity is an opportunity to introduce the beauty of the Spanish language while supporting each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. Our teachers create a warm, nurturing environment where curiosity is encouraged and every experience is designed to meet developmental milestones.
Music & Movement
Every morning, our infants explore rhythm and sound through Spanish songs, finger plays, and simple instruments like rattles, shakers, and drums. Whether we’re singing “Un pulpito”, dancing to “Los océanos”, or moving to the beat of “Tres pececitos”, these activities help develop motor coordination, listening skills, and cultural connection.
Language & Literacy
Books and storytelling in Spanish are woven into our daily routine, introducing infants to rich vocabulary and expressive communication. Stories like “Oso dice gracias” and “Como estás?” are paired with finger plays and puppetry, engaging little ones’ attention and fostering early language comprehension.
Gross Motor Play
Through safe, guided play, infants build strength, balance, and coordination. Activities include crawling through tunnels, climbing gentle steps, sliding down soft slides, bouncing on mats, and dancing to Spanish music. Outdoor time allows children to explore nature while developing large motor skills.
Fine Motor & Sensory Exploration
Our sensory-rich curriculum invites infants to touch, grasp, and explore different materials. From painting ocean animals like starfish and dolphins, to feeling sand and water, to exploring soft fabrics and textured toys, these activities support fine motor development and sensory awareness.
Cognitive Discovery
Even at this early age, infants are learning cause-and-effect and problem-solving. They watch balls roll, explore mirrors while identifying facial features in Spanish (ojos, nariz, boca), and discover how different animals sound (¿Qué sonido hace la ballena?).
Thematic Learning
We introduce themes that connect language learning to the world around them—like Los Océanos. Over several weeks, infants might paint whales, count fish, sing ocean songs, and explore sensory bins with “water” play, all while hearing and using Spanish words tied to the theme.
From the gentle greeting each morning to the joyful music that ends our day, the Abejitas classroom is a place where infants & toddlers are surrounded by love, discovery, and the foundational gift of bilingualism.
